The Highlights of Your Trekking Adventure:

Day 1: Welcome to Sweden! We meet at Sundsvall airport. Transportation to the campground located on the banks of the beautiful Västerdalälven Valley. Diner in the small village of Sälen. Presentation and preparation of the adventure.

Day 2: The adventure begins! The trail takes us straight to the heights of the valley. We enjoy the refreshing atmosphere of the boreal forest made of spruces, pine trees, anthills, natural springs and creeks. The reward of our 14 km is our first night in a refuge built on the shores of a lake inhabited by cute little fishermen cabins.

Day 3: Our itinerary goes through some historical sites such as an old watermill-sawmill and ancient log buildings. Also you will enjoy those kilometers in that part of the forest where larges boulders and carpets of white lichens cover the ground. Another simple cabin with mattresses and a central fire place will give us a pleasant rest at the end of this second day.

Day 4: Our adventure goes now more on the country side even though we still go though some wilderness areas. As most of our participants you will love the typical Scandinavian setting of our fourth night. Gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, a cabin with a view on a lake, a great spot for swimming, islands and fields of wild berries are all what will be given to you!

Day 5: We hike through the first village located on our itinerary. An ancient beautiful red wooden church could be visited. Then our trail looses some altitude for the first time. In the valley we end at a very cute site where a cabin, a creek, a watermill and a stable in the forest are waiting for us. We truly love that place worthy of a postcard.

Day 6: We go through another village where another typical wooden chapel and a grocery store give us a delightful break. Now the trail visits more and more pretty hamlets at the foot of hills and along lakes or rivers. You get to see the beauty of the picturesque Dalarna region.

Day 7: Our last stage takes us to a lively town which is the final line of our adventure. It's an easy and fast stage. We will enjoy a visit and a relaxing time in that town. Diner in a restaurant.

Day 8: After breakfast we get ready for the departure. We travel back to Sundsvall airport. Thank you and see you soon!

Day 2 to 6 or 7 or 8: We get up early and drive West to get to the starting point of our adventure which will be on the Finnish or Norwegian side. Three options are possible. All of them take you to an amazing trip where your feet tread on the ground of the three Scandinavian countries: Finland, Sweden and Norway. Even though the altitudes are low compared to the traditional mountain ranges such as the Alps or the Rockies this trekking adventure will test your legs and backs. Moreover the temperatures can be cool at any time and precipitations can come quickly. Staying up late to see the midnight sun bouncing over the mountains, hearing the sound of furious waterfalls and torrents, hiking through stunning open spaces, setting up our tents in the middle of nowhere, wondering at the eternal snow and glaciers covering the Norwegian and Swedish summits, spending the night in mountain cabins, letting ourselves to be surprised by the presence of reindeer on the trail... all of these is the essence of this trekking adventure in Northern Scandinavia.

After our meeting at Kittilä airport we directly transfer you to our small cottage which is  located in the quietness of the Lappish country on the banks of the Ounas River. We let you find your spot in the loft and then we gather to give you a presentation of our adventure. In the evening we prepare for you a meal made of only local products. We end this first day with a time at the sauna and swimming in the river for the most courageous ones!

Day 2: We begin our journey with a beautiful road trip along the Ounasjoki and Kemijoki valleys. We take a short break at the historical site of Auttiköngas. Later we arrive at the starting point of our trekking adventure. We go for a 9 km loop hike around a canyon which provides in great views all along. There's no rucksack to carry for this first stage. We come back and set up our bivouac by the lake.

Day 3This second stage takes us first to a very interesting site which is famous for it's ancient paintings on  a cliff. Then we hike for several kilometers through a luminous forest of pine trees. We find back our land of lakes and trails at the end of the day and enjoy the night in a cute log cabin.

Day 4As the adventure goes on you can enjoy wandering in a true labyrinth of lakes, creeks and trails which are all connected with cute wooden structures (stairs, bridges, duckboards...). Take note that the reindeer might be the individual you encounter the most during this adventure! We end this stage with a bivouac by a lake and a creek. We love that place for the amazing sunrises that we often get early in the morning in Spring and Summer.

Day 5: A little log cabin at the foot of spruces and built a long time ago on a carpet of green grass in front of the pristine waters of a lake is what you might keep as one the most beautiful settings you will have visited during this adventure. Our schedule for the day will allow you to fully enjoy the quietness of that setting.

Day 6: For this short stage we hike bathed in the peaceful sound of the running waters of a creek which connect a series of lakes and ponds. Back to the vehicle we hit the road and stop by Oulanka National Park one of the most famous natural parks in Finland. We get to our cottage and enjoy a last diner and sauna session.

The Highlights of Your Trekking Adventure

Day 1: Welcome to Northern Carelia, Finland! Our meeting point is at the airport or train station in Joensuu. On our way to the B&B we stop at a spectacular Orthodox church building. Preparation and presentation of the trek. Diner and sauna.

Day 2Our adventure begins in an inhabited area to end 14km further on the top of long ridges bordered by big lakes on both sides. Our first night is in a charming log cabin called "The Great North Lake Cabin".

Day 3This second stage is the shortest of the trip. Through the forest you will enjoy an easy path leading us to an old cabin of red wood built not far from other "mökki" where Finns can enjoy quietness and rest in the middle of nowhere. Few years ago we had to privilege to see a fearful wolf running away from us.

Day 4As we're adding kilometers to our trip more wilderness we're getting into. You will get that strange and enjoyable feeling to be disconnected from the rest of the world. At the end of the day we set our bivouac at a shelter near the stunning crystal waters of "Pretty Lake".

Day 5This stage is marked by the shape of the trail meandering through the forest. Several ponds are an opportunity to take a break and enjoy the silence of the Boreal forest. The end of day takes place on the shores of a big lake and in a cabin built near a beach. Perfect spot to wonder at a gorgeous sunset!

Day 6The giant pine trees standing up straight on the top of ridges sets the stage. The use of rafts to cross rivers brings some fun to a long and beautiful day. We see the first and last village of the whole trip. You will never forget the refreshing and pure taste of that spring water welling from the ground. We set up our bivouac on the banks of a wide river and enjoy our last evening in the wilderness around a bonfire.

Day 7For the last day of this trekking adventure we lead you to a National Park which is also a bears' territory. We rarely see them. However you might earn the same privilege than we earned 9 years ago which was to see an adult size brown bear standing in the middle of the trail. Who knows!? We will spend our last night in a refuge. Diner. Sauna by the lake.

Day 8After breakfast we get ready for the departure. Transportation to Joensuu airport or train station. Thank you and see you soon!

The Highlights of Your Trekking Adventure:

Day 1: Welcome to Finnish Lapland for a beautiful adventure in one of the oldest and most picturesque national parks in Finland ! We meet at Kittilä airport. Then we drive you to our cottage located on the banks of the Ounas River. After installation we give you a presentation of the coming adventure and we prepare for it. A diner made with local products follows. And we end the first day with a sauna time and swimming in the river.

Day 2: First we drive about 40 mn to reach the Southern part of the long trail we are gonna hike. The trek starts with a strenuous climb which step by step unveils beautiful landscapes. The trails goes on the ridge of a rocky fell and then goes down to a lake where a wilderness cabin wait for us. We spend the first night there.

Day 3:  This third day takes us into the forest and swampy areas. At the end of the day we get to a small promontory where the ancient Sami people had their religious traditions. This is where we set up our bivouac near a cute Lapp hut in which we gladly gather for diner and fellowship.

Day 4: Another historic site is on our path. We stop at an old watermill and enjoy the sound of the small rapids nearby. After another short climb. we find our spot for the night, in the heart of the forest.

Day 5: We pass the first and only village of our trekking adventure and then enter in a secluded area. At the foot of a mountain -that we could climb for those who are willing- a small lake and a cabin far from any civilization are the perfect rest spot after already more than 50 km covered.

Day 6: We have hiked about half of the adventure. We treat ourselves with a night in a mountain hotel and a meal at a restaurant. You could also visit the Nature Center of the park and have a time at the sauna to relax your muscles and back. A radically different environment surrounds you now. After five days through the forest and mires we are about to hike in a treeless area and much more mountainous. This is what makes this adventure so special!

Day 7: This stage goes up and down given you spectacular views from the top of the fells over the highlands and lakes around.  The warm shades of Autumn all around the hills contrasting with the blue of the lakes give one of the most beautiful landscapes you could see in Lapland at that time of the year. We end the day at a mountain cabin ideally situated to observe the Northern lights if the weather allows it.

Day 8First we pass the tiniest and oldest wilderness cabin of the park. The beautiful deserted fells keep surrounding us until we get back to a small forested area where a wilderness sauna and a pond are waiting to give you a unique experience of what trekking is all about.

Day 9The hills are lower. We enter into an amazing open and deserted space. This is a stage on a pretty flat terrain. The running waters of creeks, a small lake, the presence of the reindeer transport you into a very Scandinavian atmosphere. Once again we spend the night in a comfortable mountain cabin.

Day 10: We open up the day with hiking up to the top of the last fell of our adventure. Spectacular views over the whole region of Northern Lapland give a great conclusion to our adventure. Our trip ends with a short boat ride taking us to the village of Hetta. We drive back to our cottage and then we go to Levi where we spend a good relaxing time at the spa. We take a delicious diner in town before heading back to the cottage.

Day 11: After breakfast we prepare for departure. Transportation to Kittilä airport. Thank you and see you soon!

Highlights of the tour:  There in the middle a flat territory stands a conic mountain. You get to the top through an old-growth forest and a tree less area as you get closer to it. A spectacular view all over the region is the reward of that climb. We share a lunch in one of the shelters and then go down.
